Welcome to my world of music! 🎵
Hi, I’m Skidders (Steve Skidmore). I’m a guitarist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist producer proud to hail from Smethwick in the heart of England’s Black Country.
For me, music has always been about exploration. Whether I’m cranking up the electric guitar for a heavy rock riff, stripping things back on an acoustic, or finding the groove in a jazz standard, I simply love the process of creating sounds.

Creative Highlights & Collaborations
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to work alongside some amazing musicians over the years. You might know me as one-half of the acoustic duo Bukechi, where I write and play guitar alongside the wonderful vocalist Sammi Roberts. We were absolutely thrilled when BBC Introducing named us their Band of the Month!
When I’m not playing with Bukechi or writing my own solo albums—like Skidderslectric and the Friends & Family volumes—you’ll usually find me in the studio. I work closely as a session musician and producer for fantastic local talent and bands like Anatasha, Malc Evans, and Beneva. Over the years, my musical path has given me some truly unforgettable moments, like sharing the stage with Kevin Rowland of Dexy's Midnight Runners, and supporting legendary artists like Midge Ure, Ellie Goulding, and The Feeling.

Where the Roots Lie
People often ask me who inspires my sound. My record collection is a bit of a wild mix! It spans everything from the heavy, classic rock energy of Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath to the timeless melodies of The Beatles, Pink Floyd, and Santana.
But if I had to pin down the exact moment I found my musical roots, it was watching the legendary Hank Marvin perform live at the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington. It was an incredibly emotional show, and the pure clarity of his playing changed how I looked at the guitar forever.
Lately, I’ve been diving headfirst into jazz, blending those smooth rhythms into my rock tracks (if you have a copy of Friends & Family Vol. 2, check out the track "Bobby Dazzler" to hear what I mean!). I also love letting my inner music geek run free with specialized tribute projects—whether that’s recreating Eric Clapton's iconic MTV Unplugged vibe or channeling the raw, stomping blues of Seasick Steve and Robert Johnson.

What’s Next?
I’m the kind of person who always needs a project on the go. Right now, I’m brainstorming in the studio, deciding whether the next record will be a deep dive into jazz standards or a raw, stripped-back return to heavy rock and blues.
Who knows where the wind will take me next—but I’m incredibly glad to have you along for the ride. Thanks for stopping by, and happy listening!
